What affects a Telegram username's price: 10 factors
A username's price isn't a random number. It's built from a set of signs that raise or lower a name's value. Here are the ten main ones.
What raises the price
1. Short length
The main factor. Names of 4–5 letters are the most expensive, because they're physically scarce. Each extra letter lowers the value: a 10-letter name is almost always cheaper than a 4-letter one.
About 3 letters: 3-letter usernames aren't available on the market. The minimum length on Fragment is 4 characters, and only five 3-letter names exist — Telegram issued them itself (@ufc, @nft, @gif, @vid, @pic), and they're not for sale. So in practice the "shortest" is 4 letters.
2. A meaningful word
An ordinary dictionary word (love, king, tiger, crypto) is worth many times more than a random set of letters. Such a name is easy to remember and always in demand.
3. Matching a brand
A name matching a well-known brand or company is expensive — there's a potential buyer with a big budget. But such a name is harder to sell: often only one specific buyer is interested.
4. A celebrity name or fame
Usernames linked to well-known people, bloggers and public projects are highly valued thanks to recognition.
5. Pronounceability
A name that's easy to read and say aloud is more valuable than an "unreadable" set of consonants. For example, "lumio" sounds like a brand, while "rmxbt" doesn't — even at the same length.
6. A popular topic
Names from in-demand niches — crypto, finance, gaming — cost more thanks to the large number of interested buyers.
7. Real sales of similar names
If similar usernames have already sold on Fragment, this sets a market reference and confirms demand.
What lowers the price
8. Digits
Names with digits (@ivan2007) are valued noticeably lower than "clean" ones. Digits are seen as a sign that the nice name is already taken.
9. Underscores
The "_" symbol also lowers value: @cool_boy is worth less than @coolboy. A clean name without separators is always preferable.
10. Long made-up combinations
Random meaningless sets of letters (@sdvdfvbxcds) cost almost nothing: there are endlessly many such combinations, and it's easier for a buyer to come up with their own name than to pay for someone else's.
Bottom line: the ideal expensive username is short, meaningful, easy to read, without digits and underscores, ideally from an in-demand topic. The more signs that match, the higher the price.
